WHITESQUARE DISCUSSES A CAREER DEFINING MOMENT, THE ESSENCE BEHIND HIS LABEL - RIOTVAN, UPCOMING PROJECTS AND MORE...

Where did you grow up and how did you find your way into the techno scene?
I grew up in Rome, Italy, where I still live today, although I traveled quite a bit during my childhood. My journey into the techno scene was gradual. I started out as a hip-hop DJ, then moved through jungle and drum & bass before eventually finding my place in house and techno.

How would you describe your sound?
Eclectic.
How did you grow your profile as an artist? Did you start as a DJ or producer first?
I first started experimenting with Fruity Loops as a kid, and not long after I began exploring the DJ world, so I guess you could say I was a producer first.
I’ve always worked within creative fields. I spent a few years in fashion, then moved into event and party production before fully dedicating myself to music.

What’s your favourite track that you’ve produced and why?
I still am yet to produce it!
Your set for us has been getting a lot of love. How did you approach your mix for Anomaly Radio?
That’s great to hear. Honestly, I just plugged in my USB and hit record. I wanted to keep it raw and spontaneous.

How did you approach your set for Anomaly Radio?
Built it like a journey. Slow burn to start, pressure rising when the moment called for it.
